Getting report writer reports to Excel has never been that easy. Usually it entails sending the report out to a CSV file and then cleaning up the mess. One thing that seems to help a bit is to put the following line in the dex.ini file.
ExportOneLineBody=TRUE
If you then save the report to a tab delimited file and open it with Excel it seems to come over a little better. Try doing this.
- Put ExportOneLineBody=TRUE in your dex.ini file
- Open Dynamics and run a AR trial balance with options. Make the file destination Tab delimited
- Open the file with Excel and it should look something like this:

You may need to add the customer name in the body (data section) of the report then sort by customer number but it's a reasonable mod that could get you a somewhat usuable report in excel.

So don't give up hope on report writer reports before going straight to smartlist or crystal.
***Authors note: This trick (ExportOneLineBody=TRUE ) has worked since version 6.0. I only figured this out recently.....OK, well acutally, I didn't figure it out. Truth be told another GP person told me about it after seeing a tech doc on it. We were both astounded that we are on version 10.0 and this is the first time we've seen this trick. Thanks David G.
