There are three types of KPI's you can create in Business Portal 4.0. There are sample KPI's to start with. And there is functionality to create your own from scratch, using the Business Entities in Business Portal.

Thanks for your post. it was a great guide.
I simulated the barchart KPI in my BP Setup. Am not getting the A/c balance for Previous year, which is supposed to to be displayed.
any idea why it's not showing the a/c balance for previous year.

I suspect that the problem you're having is because the Business Entity I chose in the example was the "Ledger Transaction Summary", and I believe this would not contain the previous years' balances if you're closing the general ledger on an annual basis; as most people do. In the example, I chose the current fiscal period and the previous fiscal period, and both periods happened to be in the open general ledger year.
I'm not an expert on the Business Entities in BP, and am not aware of one that would contain the current and most recent closed year data for the general ledger.
